On a north-west facing site close to the coastal village of Sawtell, our brief was for an adaptable home that will work for the clients into old age.  A small and efficient home that can accomodate returning family and their desired autonomy. Our clients are big gardeners and so we treated the whole site as a garden and sited the house within it. Two pavilions enabled a separation of spaces and the ambition of a multi-generational design. A desire for a courtyard was accommodated in this as was spaces to take in the western mountain view.

A resilient design with appropriate building design and durable material selection and detailing. A thermally efficient home with a strong environmental focus and direct connection and integration to garden areas.
